About Angela Gomes

I am a junior communication major at the University of Connecticut aspiring to combine my interests in music and social media to work in public relations for marketing & advertisement within content creation and the entertainment industry. I have previously held the Marketing Vice Chair position of Concert Board in the Student Union Board of Governors (SUBOG) at my university where I actively practiced and enhanced my marketing skills while learning new ways of promoting efficiently. I now hold the Concert Chair position for this upcoming 24-25 school year where I will be overseeing the Concert Committee in SUBOG through strategically and efficiently allotting the Concert budget of $175k into putting on events and activities throughout the school year for students on campus to enjoy. I have experience in marketing and digital editing in videos, photos, and thumbnail artwork for social media sites such as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. In addition, I have experience in running social media accounts on such platforms where I have learned efficient ways of attracting and engaging audiences to my posts. I currently hold the PR Chair role for my A Capella group at the University of Connecticut known as Drop The Bass through which I am actively using my marketing and communication skills to build a better online image for the group and gain more engagement. I am also very passionate about the performing arts. I took acting courses in high school and was a member of my high school's Acting Playshop Club. I have been singing since childhood, participating in school choirs, taking vocal lessons, and participating in talent shows. I was selected for the New London Talent Show in 2019 as well as the Eastern Regional High School Festival in 2021 by the Connecticut Music Educators Association. I was previously a committee member of the Concert Committee in SUBOG through which I helped plan events and come up with marketing strategies during committee meetings for the student body to know about them and also staff said Concert events. I continue to express my love for singing and performing through a collaborative environment as a member of Drop The Bass A Capella.
