About Angela Pierides

Angela is a PhD candidate at the University of Technology Sydney, where her research focuses on developing computational models of platelet biology and thrombosis. Her work integrates image analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to better understand platelet activation dynamics and thrombotic processes. Her research sits at the intersection of biomedical engineering and computational biology, leveraging advanced imaging data and predictive modelling to explore how platelets behave under different physiological conditions. Angela’s approach is both data-driven and translational, with the potential to impact clinical decision-making and drug development. Angela has over three years of experience as a project manager and brings an engineering technical background to her work. Alongside her PhD, she works as a Project Coordinator at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute Innovation Centre, where she supports the delivery of collaborative research projects and external partnerships. As well as this, Angela tutors Introduction to Biomedical Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney, supporting students develop strong analytical and technical skills.
