Background

About Angelo Avino

I am a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Naples Federico II, specializing in hydro-climatology, climatic extremes, and hydrological modeling. My work primarily focuses on understanding and predicting the impacts of extreme climatic events, such as storms, floods and droughts, on communities. I investigate changes in precipitation extremes and floods by analysing long-term spatial and temporal trends. My research activities vary from using satellite climate products to ground-observed data.I utilize advanced hydrological models to simulate water cycle processes under varying climatic conditions. My research aims to improve the accuracy of hydrological forecasts and to develop innovative strategies for managing and mitigating the risks associated with hydrological extremes. By integrating cutting-edge modeling techniques with remote sensing data and ground-based observations, I strive to provide insights that can support communities and policymakers in water resource planning and better prepare for and respond to extreme events.
