About Angelo Dian
I'm a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne specialising in experimental phonetics. Currently, I'm looking at the acoustic realisation of short (or "single") vs. long (or "double") consonants in Italian. As my research makes extensive use of quantitative data analysis, I'm a proficient user of the statistical program R as well as specific software for phonetic analysis such as Praat and Emu. I'm trained in the phonetic segmentation and annotation of the speech signal. Previously, I studied at the University of Leeds in the UK and was awarded a Master's degree in Linguistics from the University of Verona, Italy.
