About Angus Smith

Angus is a second-year university student studying a Bachelor of International Relations and a Bachelor of Commerce at the Australian National University, with the ambition of entering a career in Diplomacy, Foreign Affairs, and National Security. Angus has been described as Passionate, authentic, and professional in his approaches to both academic and external life, and this is seen through his commitment to work and research in the domestic and international political sectors, namely that of national security, and bilateral trade relations, two passion areas of Angus' study. In 2024, Angus was named Young Citizen of the Year for the City of Wagga Wagga and subsequently was offered a position as a member of the 2025 Australia Day Planning Committee, due to his commitment to his local community and advocacy for human rights, civic engagement, and persons with a disability. External to Angus' Academic life, he has represented his region, state, and country at various events, notably as a delegate to the 12th University Scholars Leadership Symposium, an extraordinary feat for a first-year student. External to this, Angus volunteers at a local not-for-profit, Kurrajong, a disability service provider, and has done previous work for several causes. Angus is a determined, hard-working young person who would make the most of the opportunities presented to him.
