About Anika Nims

I graduated from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a BS in Advertising and minor in Public Relations, as well as finished a two-year Campus Representative job with Sony Music in 2018. I was promoted from my college job as a Barista at Espresso Royale Cafe to Assistant Manager in 2018, and eventually to General Manager in 2021, and have been managing the cafe since. However, I am very ready and excited to pursue other career goals and passions outside of the food service industry. My many interests range from creative marketing to event planning to social media and email content creation. I am educated/experienced in Advertising, Public Relations, Event Planning, Social Media, Consumer Research, Brand Partnerships, Creative/Art Direction, Promotions, Journalism, Basic Web Design, Graphic Design, Film and Photography. I am passionate about getting marketing messages across in a concise, but fun and attention-grabbing manner! I am also extremely confident in my ability to manage a team and resolve conflicts on the fly. Currently, along with managing the Krannert View location of Espresso Royale, I am pursuing my own career as a Singer/Songwriter, where I do all of my own booking and promoting. I often spend my spare time at live music events, working on my own music, teaching myself photo/video editing skills, analyzing social media platforms, discovering new music and getting to know a wide variety of people. I find that my time in the music scene here, especially during a global pandemic, has not only diversified my circle of connections, but has taught me a lot about working hard and persevering in tough times. I am industrious, creative, quick-learning, dedicated, organized and very sociable. My ideal work environment is a place where coworkers inspire one another to reach their full potential, and to be true to themselves. My ultimate goal is to use the skills I gain in a marketing or event planning job to eventually open my own cafe and music venue, since those things have given me so much in my life so far.
