About Anika Schultz

As a current student at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville), I am passionate about gaining real-life experience in my field of interest to prepare myself for post-graduation. I am specifically interested in communication-related jobs and state government policy, and have been fortunate to receive many opportunities to sharpen my knowledge in this area. Hard work and determination are key aspects in defining who I am today. At Pellissippi State Community College, where I received my Assocaites degree in one short year, I participated in many extra-circular activities including serving as a member of the executive board on the Student Government Assocation. While there, I wrote a bill that went to the 2022 Legislative Session. The bill, which pertained to the TN Promise Scholarship, gave my hands-on experience in the governmental process and lobbying. I was fortunate to have the experience to testify on my bills in both the House and Senate committees, where I met Senator Becky Massey (Knoxville) who I would later work for. Upon finishing my associate degree, I transferred to the University of Tennessee Knoxville where I am currently a student. I then had the opportunity to participate in the Tennessee Legislative Internship Program where I was assigned to intern under Senator Massey. There I learned even more about policy making and discovered my career goal- lobbying. After working this summer at Harris and Frazier Governmental Relations, a lobbying firm, I am now working this fall with TruePani. TruePani is a consulting firm that works to provide solutions for water systems, utilities, manicipalities, and states.
