About Anika Yang

I'm an undergraduate student at the University of Washington studying Marine Biology and Oceanography. Essentially, I really like water and animals. I am currently working as an undergraduate research assistant at the Ribalet Lab with the long-term goal of continuing to work in research heavy environments to discover more about. well, water and animals. When I'm not wrapping my mind around the ways of the water, I find myself submersed in it swimming with the Husky Swim Club, teaching others how to interact with tide pool creatures at the Seattle Aquarium, and helping maintain near shore monitoring systems of local eel grass beds.As I continue to build textbook skills from lectures and labs, I turn my leftover time into hours working on soft skills of informing creatively. This past year, I built sets for clubs, theatre, and film productions. Most recently-combining my passion for creating with, big surprise, water and animals-I sewed a collection commenting on the effects of overconsumption in relation to the ocean for Eyelet Creative's 2025 Trashion Show, a fashion show focused on sustainability, or the lack there of in our world.
