About Anirban Pradhan

Myself, Dr. Anirban Pradhan, working as a DST-Inspire faculty at RKMRC (Autonomous), Vivekananda Centre for Research, Kolkata, India. Previously, I worked as a DST-Inspire faculty (2016-2019) at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata. I worked as a foreign expert (2015-16) in the energy center (iChem-2011), Xiamen University, China. I did my post-doctoral Research (2014-15) at the University of Trieste, Italy. I did my Ph.D (2010-2013) at the Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal (CRPP), CNRS, University of Bordeaux, France, under the supervision of Dr. Fabien Durola and Prof. Harald Bock. I did my master of science (MS) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. During my Ph.D, I worked on bottom-up organic synthesis and characterization of carbon-rich molecules, such as carbon nanoribbons and nano-graphenes. It mainly implies to functionalization reactions on various aromatic substrates, Pd-catalyzed coupling reactions and graphitization by intramolecular Scholl reaction (oxidative dehydrocyclization). In my postdoctoral research, I worked on the synthesis of pyrenol derivatives as supramolecular templates for homochiral CNTs production. It mainly signifies the identification of a suitable pyrenol derivative to deposit on the surface and derivatization of the pyrenol scaffold with molecular recognition units for the creation of chiral nanoreactors on the surface. My current research focus (as an independent inspire faculty) on new generation of carbon based composite materials development for energy production and storage storage applications. I have received a research grant of ₹ 3.5 million (Indian Rupees) for five year from DST, Government of India (GOI) as an independent PI and executed this grant successfully. Also, I have reviewed more than thirty international articles including Nature communications, JMCA, Chem. Mater, etc. during inspire faculty tenure.
