About Anisa Tapper

I am a first year graduate student at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor pursuing a Ph.D. in physics with a focus in atomic, molecular, and optical physics. I am working in Georg Raithel's lab centered on laser cooling and atom trapping. I graduated with a bachelor's in physics from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. I've been fortunate enough to have multiple research opportunities spanning experimental atomic physics, experimental condensed matter physics, experimental biophysics, and experimental stratospheric particle studies through high altitude ballooning. The most recent research experience I have is an NSF funded REU through the University of Washington in Seattle working in an experimental atomic physics and quantum computation lab during the summer of 2022. I enjoy learning about the unknown, whether that is related to physics or not, all of it is enticing. I spend most of my time reading, playing sudoku, and doing puzzles.
