About Anita Pinter

Never in a million years have I ever imagined that I would leave my beloved country and my dream of becoming a Hungarian Literature and Linguistics teacher and settle on a tiny island in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. After all, nearly 18 years ago, I was standing at the airport, newly graduated, and took a leap of faith by accepting a one-year-long voluntary service that had changed my life for good. A new chapter had begun. Identifying myself as an immigrant has shaped my unique perspectives and aspirations and helped me immensely in my role of taking care of children coming from vulnerable and disadvantaged families. Similarly, this experience profoundly influenced my understanding of the importance of inclusive education and sparked a passion for my current job as a Learning Support Educator. Throughout the past years, I have gained significant practical and theoretical knowledge and experience in the fields of ASD, ADHD, intellectual- and learning disabilities, and challenging behaviour. It is relevantly hard to epitomise my responsibilities in a nutshell as they are numerous, but here are a few examples: • Supporting Students with statements of needs on a one-to-one basis and assisting the teaching and learning process in a classroom led by the Teacher • Facilitating the emotional, social- and physical well-being of students with statements of needs • Performing duties that enable and support access to learning and assessment • Promoting independence and fulfilment of all learners in various learning experiences • Planning and implementing Individualized Education Plans • Collaborating with a Multidisciplinary Team and Parents • Undertaking all necessary planning and reporting daily • Assisting in the preparation of educational materials and Peer Preparation Programmes The list could go on. However, the essence of being a Learning Support Educator for me is helping children acknowledge and reach their potential by providing care, empathy, patience, and diligence—all of which I take great pride in as a person, too.
