About Anja Vanbeek

With over 14 years of nursing experience in the Netherlands and working over 8 years as a Health Care Aid with Alberta Health Services in Canada, I completed the Practical Nurse Diploma Program at NorQuest College and became licensed in the summer of 2019. The combination of active medical and care experience, having been a team lead and my current education will allow me to provide nursing care to the full extend of the scope of practice and accountability of a Licensed Practical Nurse. I am currently employed in casual positions with AHS, Westlock Hospital and St. Albert Home Care. I am a self directed person with a professional demeanour able to prioritize tasks and keep pace in a busy environment with numerous demands. Over my years in the field I developed outstanding skills assessing patients to determine the severity of their concern, to deliver care for acute, chronically ill and palliative patients, and to educate them on disease prevention, symptom care and recovery. My excellent written, verbal and non verbal communication skills allow me to promptly and appropriately interact with all stakeholders in the work environment, e.g. the patient, their family and other care givers, my peers, Registered Nurses, Physicians and other members of the team. I thrive when working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
