About Anke Posthumus

As an obstetrician and fellow in perinatology at Erasmus MC, my work is grounded in a deep commitment to value-based healthcare and improving health equity. I specialize in social obstetrics, where I focus on integrating psychosocial circumstances into patient care, and am passionate about utilizing digital innovations to enhance the patient experience. My research aims to reshape perinatal care, ensuring that all patients, especially those from vulnerable backgrounds, receive tailored care that acknowledges their unique circumstances. I believe that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion, and this drives my work in creating patient-centered and holistic care models. A major highlight of my career is receiving the ZonMw Personal Grant, which supports my research into quality improvement in obstetrics, particularly through the use of Patient-Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMs) and Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs). I am proud to be contributing to the development of evidence-based tools that can directly improve patient care. In the long run, my goal is to foster collaborative clinical and research partnerships that promote equity, innovation, and value-based care. I am passionate about ensuring that all people—regardless of their background—have access to the best possible obstetric care.
