About Ankit Bhowmick

I am a Subsurface Engineer with a Master’s in Petroleum Engineering and a record of delivering impact across Shell’s global upstream portfolio. Since joining in 2018, I have worked at the intersection of subsurface, RE, PT and operations across exploration, development planning, WRFM, LTRO, surveillance and abandonment, partnering with teams in more than ten countries.I have led multidisciplinary initiatives including Shearwater longevity work and major WRFM reviews for Brunei’s Champion field, integrating modelling, surveillance, well-integrity insights and operational decision-making. A career-defining achievement was delivering Shell’s first CFD-based gravel-pack failure digital twin, reshaping global sand-control guidance and demonstrating my ability to convert deep technical analysis into enterprise-level safety and reliability improvements. In my current role in Global Proactive Technical Monitoring, I support flagship assets through EBS and systems-focused subsurface monitoring, while simplifying surveillance workflows across regions—recognised recently with the GoA WRFM LT Simplification Champion award.I also serve as Business Advisor to the GM Engineering East, supporting strategic priorities and organisational functioning for a 150+ member global engineering organisation. Known for integrative thinking, collaboration and a strong bias for action, I continue to develop as a systems-minded subsurface professional with growing enterprise leadership capability.
