About Ankit Manerikar

Hello all, I am an AI researcher and engineer with a strong background in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Robotics. I earned my Master’s and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University in 2023, specializing in Self-Supervised Generative Learning Models for automation and security. Over the past decade, I have gained extensive experience in both industry and academia, encompassing contributions to more than ten labs and companies. At Purdue, I have had the privilege of working under Dr. Avinash Kak at the Robot Vision Lab, where I worked on projects related to Tomographic Computer Vision and Deep Learning. My doctoral research focused on automating X-ray-based explosives detection for airport security. The work investigates how Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) can enhance security screening efficiency by generating physics-based and ML-driven simulation models for training threat detection systems. Beyond this, I have also actively contributed to research in Indoor SLAM, Coverage Path Planning, and Mobile Mapping Systems (MMS). Currently, I am part of Intel Corporation, USA, where I work on exciting new frontiers in AI optimization and acceleration frameworks for next-generation computing.
