About Anmol Dutta

Anmol Dutta is a Lecturer in Film Studies and the Department of Gender, Sexuality & Women's Studies at Western University, Canada. Her research and teaching interests lie in Media and Cultural Studies, Postcolonial Theory, and Gender Studies, with specialized focus on South Asian popular culture and politics. She is currently completing her doctoral dissertation on India's cultural identity and the regimes of censorship(s) as shaped by/for Netflix India in the Department of English Studies at Western University. Anmol is the recipent of the Association of Canadian College and University Teachers of English's (ACCUTE) BIPOC Research and Community Engagement Award (2025). As a racialized immigrant woman teaching and researching in Canada, she is passionate about adopting intersectional EDID-focused strategies in her pedagogy and in spaces beyond academia. She has previously served as Co-chair for Anti-Racism Committee (2020-21) and Equity Committee (2021) at the Society of Graduate Students SOGS at Western, and as the Equity Chair for University of Toronto's Re-Locations Journal (2021-23).
