I love writing to convey complex ideas concisely and authentically, and I love that editing provides another opportunity to make something even more clear and easy to understand. I have been able to apply both skills to educational and technical writing over the last two decades. Working primarily on educational materials the last fifteen years, I have helped create clear and easy-to-use student material, teachers' guides, assessments, and supporting resources for teachers and students of all ages. I also have a strong technical background and an interest in technical communication. Over the course of my career, I’ve written and edited a variety of documentation for technology users, including manuals, training materials, and release notes. I’m technologically literate, with an understanding of coding and computer logic. I have worked in tech support. and still do for my parents. I have applied both my technology and language expertise by reviewing online programs and websites for usability and readability. I have experience with a wide variety of software and pick up new programs quickly, and I’m always trying to find a better way to do something the next time. As a freelancer, I’ve greatly enjoyed working on a wide variety of products with an equally wide variety of people, project structures, and workflows. I pay attention to the details to quickly pick up new projects guidelines and workflows, and I don’t hesitate to ask clarifying questions to fully understand the expectations of a project or job. It’s always fun when a project gives me the opportunity to learn something new. In addition to educational publishing and technical communications, I’m interested in finding new applications for my skills.
