About Ann Aerts

Head of the Novartis Foundation since January 2013. Oversee all aspects of the Novartis Foundation’s programs, which explore innovative solutions to global health challenges. Work with the Foundation’s leadership team alongside partners, NGOs, government and societal actors to deliver a strategic approach to healthcare delivery. Committed to helping to expand quality healthcare and eliminating disease in low- and middle-income countries. Passionate about the role of digital health in controlling both infectious and noncommunicable diseases. Previously worked at the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Belgian Lung and TB Association and a number of positions with Novartis. My work has offered me the opportunity to see first-hand how innovative healthcare solutions can transform lives. Proud to be a Member of the Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development (ITU/UNESCO) and to co-chair its Working Group on Digital Health. Also a member of the advisory boards of the Global Health Group of University of California, San Francisco and the OECD Network of Foundations Working in Development, and a member of the Governing Council of the Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries.
