About Ann Bancroft

I have been a nurse for over 18 years and an educator for 15. Life Support Services offered me an incredible opportunity when they recruited me to teach ACLS and PALS across the country. Not only was the traveling fun and exciting, but I discovered a previously unsuspected love of teaching! Using passion, humor and patience I discovered the joy of bringing students to understanding, mastery and confidence. This opportunity also allowed me to maintain my loyalty to Gerber Memorial Health Services for over 19 years. The time I have spent with GMHS has been filled with growth, learning and maturation. The skills required in a small, isolated level II emergency room have sharpened my critical thinking skills and brought more to my career than I can ever repay. I find myself becoming very excited about the new challenges and opportunities facing nursing and nursing education. As the very core of healthcare prepares to be shaken by impending reform, nurses must be prepared to lead the cause for patient education, advocacy and support. More than ever before, nurses will play a pivotal role in defining and delivering patient care. This is truly an exciting time, not only for me but for our profession. The last four years have been spent in the clinical coordinator role at Ferris State University. This time of exploration and growth has been amazing! My prioritization, organization, and communication skills have grown beyond my expectations and continue to grow on a daily basis. The completion of my Masters in Nursing Education this December has been a journey that has revealed my dedication to excellence in nursing education. I have taught in the clinical and didactic setting, building teaching plans from the objectives on up. I have assisted struggling students to reach their potential. The rewards of teaching far outweigh the challenges and every day I find myself excited by what I do and the possibilities ahead. Specialties: Nursing education, leadership
