Associate Professor - Director: Interdisciplinary Studies & Academic Advisor: Exploratory Studies • Direct Interdisciplinary Studies: A customizable degree plan in which students design their own concentrations and take at least one minor and two IDS core classes.* Teach Internship I, EDH530, in the Higher Education Policy and Student Affairs Masters Program, spring 2018.* Teach Communication Careers, COM200, to accompany undecided pre-major students through the major and career exploration process (fall 2015) • Assist advisees in making realistic and fitting academic, course, and career decisions • Advise undeclared undergraduate students in order to assist their timely transfer to the majors of their choice • Meet one on one with students to discuss their academic, financial, social and other concerns, and make appropriate referrals to University departments, offices and personnel as well as off-campus referrals • Become familiar with department and program requirements, which frequently change, in order to provide the most accurate and up to date information to advisees • Contact all advisees to remind them of upcoming registration dates and their need to schedule an appointment to discuss their academic progress, current issues of concern, and upcoming course selection • Diagnose and counsel advisees in academic difficulty who are required to complete Academic Recovery Plans • Refer advisees to critical campus resources • Research and present to professional associations and to the University community as appropriate • Engage in activities designed to support multicultural students as a member of the Multicultural Student Success Committee • Serve Hillel, the Jewish Student Union, as a volunteer faculty advisor • Take part in committees, including the Multicultural Student Success Committee, Enrichment Theme Team, search committees, and the Ethnic Studies Steering Committee • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative programs • Teach small group sessions of advisees
