About Ann Gettis
Following the suicide in 2006 of my beloved son, Jeremiah, at age 21, I returned to college to study bullying and violence prevention. Jeremiah had written extensively about bullying he endured in school and the devastating impact it had on him. In 2008 I completed my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Community Violence Prevention. In 2011 I received a Master of Arts degree in Community Psychology from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, MN. We then founded Jeremiah’s Hope for Kindness, a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to foster kind and respectful homes, schools and communities. I also became a trainer for the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. I have attended several trainings on Restorative Practices and the Circle Process. I am also very interested and continue to study social and emotional learning, mindfulness and gratitude practices and their role in preventing bullying, and fostering resilience and overall well-being.
