About Ann Goffe

Early in my career as a psychoanalyst, coach and workshop leader I made a life changing discovery. I found the answer to a question that had preoccupied me for many years: Why do we human beings in spite of our best intentions, fail to keep our word, do our best and make our dreams come true? Based on my clinical observations and outcomes over 20 years, research in psychology spiritual traditions and folklore, and on a relentless self inventory, I believe with confidence: We all have different aspirations, but the reason why we fall short of our goals, whatever they may be, is the same for all of us. The reason is an unconscious psychodynamic response, an emotional knee jerk that is triggered to create self doubt when we are challenged to achieve a goal. I call that knee jerk Trickster and I identify it as the source of self sabotage. Of procrastination, avoidance, anger, depression, anxiety and all the self defeating patterns that stop us from making our dreams come true. Mastering the Trickster reflex has become a guiding principle in my personal life and my professional practice. It is also the inspiration for the workshop series
