About Ann Mullin

Professional history includes 25 years working in the philanthropic sector with a particular focus on education policy and practice. Highlights include co-development of a strategy to create a portfolio of excellent public schools in Cleveland in partnership with the Cleveland Foundation; intense work with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to restructure its management and operations to bring the portfolio strategy to scale; deep engagement and direct involvement on new school start-ups, particularly at the secondary level; contributing author of Cleveland’s Plan for Transforming Schools, a plan to reinvent public education in our city and serve as a model of innovation for the state of Ohio; contributing writer of House Bill 525, which enshrined the Cleveland Plan into state law; founding member of the Higher Education Compact, which seeks to increase college readiness, access, and completion rates of Cleveland Metropolitan School District students; launch and leadership of the Cleveland Transformation Alliance, a public-private partnership charged with overseeing implementation of the Cleveland Plan; contributing partner in the launch of PRE4CLE, our city’s plan for high-quality preschool for all three- and four-year olds in Cleveland; and leadership role in the effort to bring Say Yes to Education Cleveland, which seeks to align academic and social services that help Cleveland Metropolitan School District students stay on track to graduate from high school and prepare them for postsecondary studies. Most recently my work has expanded into administration, fiscal oversight, investment strategy, and operations.
