Background

About Ann Ramirez

With Blockchain technology poised to be bigger than the Internet and Blockchain’s immutable ledger’s solution to trusted computing, shipping logistics, banking and finance, theft, money laundering, binding contractual agreements, culpability, liability, accountability, ownership rights, home security, information ownership, indelible free speech, etc, etc, etc, we are on the cusp of a drastic paradigm shift. At the foundational level, the inherent security provided by Blockchain’s indelible ledger technology reveals unimaginable potential, where only your imagination will limit what can be created and achieved. For example, imagine a world where every IoT device is immutably secure, where every device is globally connected via Starlink, and the collective computing power of all IoT devices can be harnessed securely and with complete contractual control by the user and binding parties, all while seamlessly integrating every person to crypto funds. Even though this vision is likely decades into the future, the technology is available now to build a strong foundation for that future, harnessing dark silicon. The societal impacts of my research is immense and will have profound impacts on humankind’s future, one that rapidly needs immediate consideration for emergencies such as the climate crisis and rapidly declining global societal conditions. My work aims to vastly reduce Blockchain energy requirements, using methods amenable to IoT devices rather than traditional Proof-of-Work, Proof-of-Stake, etc. methods. With the Starlink network nearly deployed and global connectivity ensured, I envision that the inherent security, culpability, and ownership rights of Blockchain technology can be leveraged with the free speech expression potential of Twitter and popular edge device OSs, for a more positive, globally connected society. As such, I am seeking collaboratives ties with companies such as Starlink, SpaceX, Twitter, Tesla, etc. I have been in the field of IoT edge device design for over two decades, and have nearly 200 publications in the area. To put in perspective my expertise, I was prototyping and designing devices that are commonplace today many years or decades before these devices ever hit the market (e.g, I assisted in the design and prototyping of an eBook and a plug-and-play eBlock system). In a nut shell, I can theoretically design any IoT device, numbering in the billions upon billions, from ocean to space, where any dreamed device is conceivable given physical and technological constraints, most of which are surmountable.
