About Ann Schaefer

As a dedicated and inquisitive educator, I am always seeking new learning experiences for myself and for my students. I seek to use my experiences and talents to compliment and enhance early education at the highest level, promoting the growth of children in all areas of development. Learning is a life-long process, and my own formal educational path has included the study of music, clinical psychology and early childhood education. These areas of study have broadened my views, honed my skills as a critical thinker, and helped me to further explore my passion for the education of young children. I have worked with children in multiple capacities over the last decade as a teacher, assistant teacher,childcare provider, a tutor, a mentor, and a counselor. My personal teaching philosophy is derived from my knowledge of child development, the importance of play, and the importance of autonomy, creativity, and exploration in the early childhood classroom. I have a gentle, nurturing, patient approach to children, and their needs and interests are always at the forefront. This creates a strong relationship with children and their families, as well as a supportive classroom environment. The aim of early education is to provide positive experiences in learning new things, to foster a sense of community, and to build confidence and self-esteem in young children as they learn and grow, instilling a life-long love for learning.
