About Ann Severance

I specialize in tutoring math to all age levels from K - 12. I have extensive experience using hands on methods and designing math programs for students who struggle with math. I have worked with many homeschooled students, tailoring math programs to the specific needs of the student. A strength of my tutoring programs is use of The Geometer's Sketchpad, dynamic mathematics software that allows students of all levels to interact with math in ways that enhance understanding of concepts. I tutor both in person and through Skype using the "screen share" feature and software that allows me to work problems and write notes for students on a "whiteboard" and then send the notes to the student afterward. My experience tutoring math and science at the Community College of Baltimore County has given me a unique perspective which allows me to prepare high school students to place into college level math when they take their college placement tests and to be well prepared to succeed in their college math classes. I am currently developing and teaching youth classes in math and science at CCBC. These classes are offered during the semester for homeschooled students and during the Summer Learning Adventure Camps program.
