About Anna Boland

In the summer of 2022 I graduated with a First Class History Degree from Liverpool Hope University. I chose to do a history degree because it was always my passion in school, a history lesson could never be boring to me. Studying history requires a lot of reading, a lot of research and excellent writing skills to complete essays and a dissertation but I was determined to put the work in which resulted in my First Class degree. While studying at university I worked part time as a sales assistant in Pull and Bear, a clothing shop, which helped me further my time management skills as I was always given multiple tasks to complete before the end of my shift. I am so grateful for my time spent at Pull and Bear because it helped me with communicating with strangers and members of the public, which I struggled with before. I left my job as a sales assistant in March 2022 so I could focus on my end of year exams and dissertation. Currently I work as an LSO (Learning Support Officer) in Childwall Abbey School. I enjoy working with children; it can be difficult working in an SEN school because sometimes the disabilities or needs of a child prevent them from being able to effectively communicate but it is up to us as adults to work with the child for however long it takes so we can understand exactly what support or help they need. During my time at CAS I have completed a Team Teach course and a Level 2 Understanding Autism course; both courses improved my ability to communicate with the children and my ability to keep them safe and in a calm environment. One day I would like to find a job that is related to history and my university degree as this is what I am most passionate about.
