About Anna Burrow

After graduating with my Masters in Social Work I obtained a position at Infant and Toddler Intervention Program working with children with special needs doing play therapy and assessing children's needs. When I began having children I left that position full time, but was able to continue on a contract basis for tow more years. I then acquired a position with Allen ISD as an in-home/ parent trainer. I was able to continue my work with families and children, focusing mainly on those on the autistic spectrum. I acted as a liaison between teachers and families to help accomplish goals set for the students in their classrooms. During this time I was also able to use my social work experience to work as a volunteer at First Baptist Church Allen's, We Care program. We Care helped those in the community in financial crisis. As a case worker I was able to meet with families to go over financial needs, go over budgets and help counsel the families. From this position I became the First Baptist Allen's Angel Tree Coordinator. I coordinate a group of volunteers to help with the Angel Tree. I am in charge of interviewing families, creating gift lists, organizing and distributing gifts. As my children entered school I was given the opportunity to substitute teach at their private school. When the fourth grade teacher had to leave at semester I was given the opportunity to take the job. I found teaching to be extremely rewarding and have loved every minute of it. I look forward to continuing to teach in the future.
