About Anna Cairney

The dictionary is a page-turner for me. I am amazed that just 26 letters can determine your future, create a story, mend a wound, change the world. When placed in the right order, letters become words that turn into sentences and advance to paragraphs resulting into chapters transpiring in books that may become volumes housed in libraries. It is the power of compounding. I love language, understanding how speech evolves and meanings shift, to know what words/sounds/icons mean, and then learning what they really mean. It is not just printed words either, I am energized by public speaking and the ability to intentionally place words in the air for the greatest impact. Tell me what you are trying to communicate and let me thrive making sure the words are in the right order to convey your message. The majority of my professional experience is in an academic setting working with cohorts of students, including physician’s assistants, nurses, engineers, and aspiring lawyers. I have also worked in trade publishing, luxury goods, and advertising. Currently I assist the next generation of strategic leaders moving into positions in national security. I am a professor of communicative arts, a coordinator of effective writing programs, a manager of a specialized writing center, an executive writing consultant, and a complete word nerd.
