About Anna Castelli

During my studies in Biotechnology (Bachelor’s degree at Milano-Bicocca University and Master’s degree at University of Brescia) I cultivated my passion for science and in particular for Biology. I performed several traineeships learning about Molecular Biology and also approaching to veterinary world. During that period I acquired theoretical and practical knowledge about cloning techniques for recombinant antigens' expression in bacteria and higher organisms in order to realize a diagnostic kit (ELISA test). My experience and participation in different projects during my master years in different research centers (Italy and Spain) has let me meet the new growing exosome and nanotechnology fields. During my master’s thesis in Barcellona I also improved my English communication skills, team working and networking. In Italy I worked on a diagnostic ELISA test for ovarian cancer detection in Bird's R&D, where I acquired fundamental skills for my carrier, such as, project planning and problems solving. I also worked for a veterinary and pharmaceutical company, FATRO Spa, as Quality Control Operator, focusing on cell coltures, used for avian vaccines check. I won a scholarship at IZSLER for a project about influenza A virus. In particular its aim is replication activity and pathogenesis evaluation of swine influenza A viruses using reverse genetics techniques, respiratory organoids and 3D cell coltures of swine origin. Now I am a researcher at IZSLER, Unit Vesicular Viruses and Biotechnology Products and I am following several projects. I am a multitasking, easygoing and dynamic person and my aim is to help to the development and execution of ideas and projects sharing motivations with colleagues to achieve goals. I am also highly motivated to work to improve people's health and like facing new challenges.
