About Anna Coro

I am a healthcare professional with a unique blend of clinical and technical expertise. In my current role I support the laboratory medicine program as an Applications Specialist for the Laboratory Information Systems Support Team (Beaker CP/AP, Instrument Manager) I have over 25 years of combined experience working in clinical laboratories, supporting laboratory information systems (hospital and industry settings), quality management and supervising laboratory staff. In past roles I have supervised operations of both unionized and non-unionized employees across all phases of laboratory testing (pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical) in Canada’s largest hospital-based clinical laboratory medicine program and led a diverse Support and Integration team for a multi-national Healthcare solution vendor. I have successfully trained laboratory personnel, students, clinicians, nurses and researchers in best practice laboratory processes, procedures and in the use of information systems. I take pride in being able to effectively communicate and create positive relationships with people across different organizational levels and departments. I have experience analyzing clinical workflow and translating user needs into technical specifications. I have excellent knowledge and practical experience implementing and maintaining quality management systems and regulatory requirements as they apply to laboratory medicine and medical devices (IQMH-Accreditation Canada Diagnostics, College of American Pathologists, ISO 15189). I have extensive experience performing complaint/safety event reviews, risk level assessments and root cause analysis as well as working with technical/engineering teams to provide clinical input as part of CAPA processes. I believe the ultimate "customer" in healthcare is the patient and I feel my duty as a healthcare worker is to ensure all the work I do contributes to improving the patient's experience.
