About Anna de Paz
Spanish dance artist, Anna de la Paz, is a performer, producer, researcher and educator specializing in the classical and folkloric dances from Spain. Dancing either as a freelance artist, or with dance companies like American Bolero Dance Company, Ms. de la Paz has performed on many important stages, like the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. Among her most recent collaborations are “Music and Dance in the times of the Duchess of Alba (1762-1802)”, created for the Hispanic Society of America in New York City;"Making Music Dance", a cross fusion of Flamenco, tap and world music which premiered at Jazz en Rafale in Montreal in 2013 and "La Nuit Espagnole: Flamenco and the Vanguard" performed at DROM in New York City. Anna de la Paz has been invited as a lecturer on Spanish dance at area colleges, universities and symposia, including the Foundation for Iberian Music’s international conference on Enrique Granados in New York City. TEACHING ARTIST Anna de la Paz has dedicated much of her professional career to dance education. She has been on the faculty of the Baltimore Actors’ Theatre Conservatory in Baltimore and Casa Galicia in Queens, NY. She has also been a guest teacher at Coupe Theatre Studio and is currently a freelance teacher at the Helen Hayes Studios in Nyack, NY and at Balbach School of Dance. In 2002, Anna de la Paz participated in a training program at City Center to become a teaching artist in New York City Public Schools. Since then, Ms. de la Paz has led many workshops and lecture/demonstrations in the schools including programs for Scarsdale HS, R.P. Conor Elementary School, Suffern HS, Ramapo HS, and Dominican College among others. In 2018, Anna de la Paz co-founded with Anna Tonna, Hispanic Culture Arts, an arts education organization that brings the classical Spanish arts to the NYC schools. Current clients include PS 8 in Upper Manhattan, the NY School for the Deaf and the Hispanic Society Museum and Library.
