About Anna Finnegan

A keen and qualified ecologist with 2+ years of experience in environmental and ecological consultancy in Ireland. Since joining SLR Consulting Ireland in January 2025, I have gained experience and developed my expertise in ornithological and ecological fieldwork. My work to date has involved conducting ornithological surveys such as Vantage Point surveys, Feeding Distribution surveys, Migration Watch surveys, Nocturnal Golden Plover surveys, and I'll be carrying out breeding bird surveys such as breeding raptor and woodcock surveys in the 2025 summer season. I have experience in conducting mammal surveys such as badger sett surveys and various kinds of bat surveys such as transect activity surveys, emergence surveys, and PRAs, along with amphibian surveys such as newt surveys. From my previous roles, I am experienced in producing AA Screening reports for small-scale domestic and commercial developments and collaborating on EIAR chapters with other subconsultants for large-scale manufacturing developments. I also have spent my time project managing, advising clients, and liasing with other stakeholders, local authorities, and consultants who are specialised in their respective fields. I am passionate about the work I do and in my free time I like to volunteer with BirdWatch Ireland conducting Breeding bird surveys (CBS) and Wetland bird surveys (I-WebS), as well as Bat Conservation Ireland as I participate in the All-Ireland Daubenton Waterways Survey every year.
