About Anna Gilbert

With my degrees from the University of North Texas, I plan to join the Peace Corps education sector and make an impact in the world where it is most needed. Ideally, I want to teach science classes in South America, where I can apply my focus in Spanish and International Studies while using my 3 years of experience teaching STEAM workshops with children. Then, I hope to attend graduate school abroad with a focus in theme park engineering and continue to pursue my goal of becoming a Disney Imagineer. I have already taken the first steps by joining the Disney College Program in the Fall of 2017 and working at Walt Disney World and Resorts. I gained valuable insight into the functionality of the Imagineers’ work, on and off stage, as a custodial and TAC (traffic audience control) cast member. Along the way, I’m looking for opportunities to further my leadership and management skills. I have held many leadership positions within 3 years in my chapter of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, including President and Inter-Chapter Relations Officers. I’ve learned a lot about event planning, long distance communication, risk management, and operating procedures. I was a Front of House trainer for 6 months at Chipotle and enjoyed passing on my knowledge to keep the restaurant efficient and cheerful. In my free time, I find joy in service work. I had the pleasure of attending two alternative service breaks through UNT. First studying environmental effects of Katrina in New Orleans, then learning about the cycle of homeless and poverty in Little Rock and its effect on children. In the summer of 2017, I studied abroad in Romania, working with NGOs and non-profits working against human trafficking. I place immense value on knowledge of systemic and global problems because I’m a firm believer in servant leadership, lifelong learning, and open mindedness to make the world better.
