About Anna Helland

Anna Helland has twenty years of experience as a committed development professional leading and managing social and behavior change (SBC) programs. Her areas of expertise include community mobilization, radio programming, curriculum design, messages and materials development, partner coordination, and Ministry of Health (MOH) capacity strengthening. She has worked throughout Africa, with a recent focus on mitigating the secondary effects of the Ebola outbreak, strengthening health systems, and managing reproductive, maternal, neonatal, and child health (RMNCH) activities. In her role as Country Director in Liberia, she provided operational and managerial oversight for SBCC and malaria activities and supervised a team of thirteen local staff. She successfully collaborated with MOH and partners to launch and monitor national SBCC programs to improve health-seeking behaviors, increase demand for quality health services, and promote positive health practices. Currently, she serves as Director of Country Programs for Breakthrough ACTION, which works globally to forge, test, and scale up dynamic approaches to social and behavior change (SBC).
