About Anna Hughes
I started out in astrophysics. My Ph.D. research focused on the space weather of low-mass stars and the implications this has for the habitability of surrounding planets. This research made me confront the rarity of life in the universe and how dependent we are on a stable environment.For me, machine learning is a powerful tool that can be leveraged for a more sustainable future. The consequences of the climate crisis and over-consumption are broad, and we need all hands on deck to find timely solutions. I am so happy to use the physical, mathematical, programming, and communication skills I’ve cultivated throughout my academic and professional career in this mission.
