Background

About Anna Karabin

I am an experienced preventive conservator with a specialised focus on environmental control and integrated pest management (IPM). I bring a comprehensive understanding of the complex needs of cultural heritage materials, with expertise in managing microclimates and implementing IPM strategies to ensure optimal conditions for long-term preservation. My work involves the development and execution of tailored environmental monitoring systems, including temperature, humidity, and light regulation, alongside the management of sustainable pest control protocols. Through close collaboration with curatorial, exhibition, and facilities teams, I develop practical, evidence-based solutions that mitigate risk, prevent degradation, and contribute to the overall sustainability of museum operations. With a commitment to both the science of conservation and the practical demands of museum environments, I am driven by a goal to enhance the longevity of collections while fostering an awareness of preventive conservation practices across all museum staff.
