About Anna Kosmalska

I am a research engineer, specializing in architecting safe, resilient systems for automotive and industrial domains. I am proficient in design and implementation of simulations for concept development and verification. In Fraunhofer IKS, my main focus has always been autonomous driving: gathering all building blocks necessary to enable safe and efficient driverless cars and trucks, finding safe ways to incorporate AI, designing architecture, and implementing a simulation to verify different approaches. When working in other domains, I particularly enjoyed when I could transfer concepts developed for automotive and adapt then to new requirements. Working on cutting-edge technologies and developing new ideas - it required knowledge of current state-of-the-art and experiments with tools, concepts, technologies. Big part of my work has been reading scientific papers, assessing their value, learning new frameworks and concepts. Exploration of diverse topics brings surprising inspirations. In IDOM, I designed and analyzed control systems for giant on-earth telescopes. This was the opposite side of control systems design: low-level programming and analyzing physical aspects of the system, such as natural frequencies of the construction. My diverse experiences of working in different domains, countries and cultures, taught me to be open to any challenges. I am looking forward to the next chapter in my professional career.
