Background
About Anna Mahler
As someone who is passionate about improving humanity's relationship with nature, I actively seek opportunities to realize this goal. Through a formal education in Environment, Resources and Sustainability at the University of Waterloo (Bachelor of Environmental Studies), with a Joint Honours in Peace and Conflict Studies, I am turning this life-long passion into a career. I strongly believe that to promote sustainability we need not only a holistic understanding of the issues at play, but also the conflict management skills required to effectively navigate the human dimensions of these challenges. Through my education and a variety of work experiences, I have developed the systems-level thinking, analytical and problem-solving skillsets needed to understand the complexity of sustainability topics, their challenges and their solutions. I am also furthering my sustainability practitioner competencies by developing sound conflict management skills (including conflict mediation, facilitation and transformation) to constructively and compassionately navigate the underlying conflict dynamics. Moving forward, I hope to continue exploring pathways which promote positive sustainable change, informed by a conflict management lens and underpinned by unwavering optimism.
