About Anna Majavu

Temporary lecturer at Rhodes University, teaching Journalism for Social Change and Practice of Journalism to Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism students in the Journalism and Media Studies department. Last year I taught Digital Self-Representation in Contemporary South Africa to third-year Journalism students. This year, I'm a co-editor at Grocott's Mail (https://grocotts.ru.ac.za/), the oldest independent newspaper in South Africa, now run by the Rhodes University Journalism department. Currently writing for Vutivi Business News, a Johannesburg-based specialist SMME and co-operatives news agency I write weekly articles on the policy and politics affecting SMMEs and co-ops. I also write now and again for Mongabay, a US-based environmental justice website as part of a group of four journalists from the African continent who contribute to Element Africa - a snapshot of the devastating effects of mines on communities across the continent.
