About Anna McDonnell

I have been working as a mechanical engineer for almost 8 years and have recently applied for my Chartership. Currently, I am a part of the R&D team at Eakin Healthcare. I am primarily the technical and project lead for the carbon filter on Eakin's ostomy bags. Before this role I was part of the United States – Northern Ireland Mentorship Program; a highly competitive and challenging program that develops Northern Ireland’s future leaders. I was selected by Mondelēz International PLC; one of the world's largest snacks companies in the USA, to complete a one-year engineering contract as an engineer (time split between Simulation & Modelling and Data Science) in the newly formed Global Modelling & Simulation team to reduce physical trials. Previously I worked as a mechanical engineer for 3.5 years at Cobham PLC; a large defence aerospace company. I completed their 2-year Graduate Development Programme gaining experience in engineering, programme management and operations including securing a prestigious 6-month international placement in America. I was then promoted to a full time Mechanical Engineer role in the air to air refuelling structures team. I am extremely enthusiastic, driven, creative and enjoy being challenged to develop and learn new skills. My strengths include structural mechanics, using my initiative, problem solving, communicating and contributing as part of a team. Having worked in the USA I gained many important skills namely international communication skills and adapting to different working cultures.
