About Anna Miller

I am currently studying Fisheries & Wildlife Science and Environmental Science in order to make an impact on human and wildlife/fish health standards. I am passionate about my studies and determined to monitory the quality of our natural resources. At Arkansas Tech, I study very hard to maintain a 3.5+GPA and to learn as much as I can. My days can vary from learning in a classroom, using seine nets to collect fish, setting camera traps for mammals, or working in the chemistry labs. At Central Arkansas Water, I worked with a team to map and assess the risk of failing septic systems in the Lake Maumelle Watershed. I used ArcGIS Pro, and ArcMap to create and maintain a geodatabase of these septic systems. During this internship, we are making a risk analysis model to determine the probability and consequence of septic system failures in this area, and to identify the areas that need additional assistance in the remediation process with the stakeholders. Additionally, I participated in a BioBlitz, where we collected and documented the different species around Lake Winona. This consisted of using seine nets, baited camera traps, ID plant species, ID terrestrial insects, use of fyke nets and umbrella traps, and ID fish species.
