Background
About Anna Molnar
As a student-athlete for a decade, I have always searched for ways to grow. My open-mindedness to progress is what makes me a great athlete and is also why I chose GeoDesign as my field of study. Resourcefulness, collaboration, and hard work are the way to create comprehensive solutions. As the next step in my growth, I aim to work in urban planning with an organization that also sees the value of sustainable development.I grew up and went to high school in Budapest, Hungary. I rowed competitively in the Hungarian Junior and U23 rowing teams throughout High School (2015-2020). I am competitive and a reliable teammate. I had kept up with 40 hours of school every week as well as 15-20 hours of training. By balancing schoolwork and athletics for years I have developed great time management skills. Because of my academic and athletic achievements, I got accepted to the University of Southern California with an Athletic scholarship.I had to postpone my departure due to the coronavirus. From the beginning of September 2020 to the end of December 2020, I worked in Budapest as a sales associate at Alid for 20-30 hours a week while also maintaining my athletic abilities for 15-20 hours a week. I value my experience working at the store as it has taught me to be more precise and the importance of accountability. I learned new skills quickly and was able to communicate well with my colleagues and customers.I started my studies in Los Angeles in January 2021. Next to being a Division I athlete, I started studying GeoDesign as my major. GeoDesign aims at finding solutions to various sustainability problems such as equity, environment, population, housing, and transportation issues in cities. To be able to understand these conflicts and find insightful and comprehensive solutions, I had taken classes in various fields of study such as architecture, economics, urban planning, as well as environmental and spatial sciences.I would like to work with organizations focused on city planning, environmental planning, or urban transportation planning. I am open-minded, with good problem-solving skills, and regularly use Microsoft Office and ArcGIS software. I have no current experience in the industry but I learn quickly and do thorough work, I do not leave things unfinished.
