About Anna Nevoit

I was born in Ukraine, grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and am now studying Biological Engineering at the University of Guelph, where I am proud to be one of the President's Scholars. Because of my Ukrainian roots, I have always been interested in agriculture and the production of food which I used to express through cooking, but as I got older, I began devoting my passion to science. Throughout high school, I always dreamt of studying food science. However, making the last-minute decision to pursue Biological Engineering opened doors to not only food technology but also biotech in the pharmaceutical and sustainable energy production industries. Throughout my academic and professional journeys, I hope to contribute to ground-breaking research and development in biotech and I am excited to see where my degree takes me! I have laboratory experience working in Biological Engineering, using High Voltage Atmospheric Cold Plasma technology to conduct microbial decontamination of fresh produce. This job allowed me to learn many crucial skills such as inoculation, spread plating, professional report writing, and Good Laboratory Practices. I am excited to continue learning and bringing my skills to new job opportunities. Apart from my academics, I enjoy traveling, nature, cooking, and running. I also enjoy volunteering in my community at schools, STEM events, open houses and conferences.
