About Anna Ploeg

I have over three years of experience in environmental policy analysis, community engagement, and communications. I am dedicated to advancing policies that protect the global environment while supporting and empowering communities vulnerable to climate change. I recently completed a six-month position with UNEP’s Regional Office for Europe, researching and drafting policy briefs on environmental policies in the Pan-European region. Previously, I worked at Oak Foundation as a communications fellow and an event coordinator where I strengthened my expertise in hope-based communications and planning organisational events. Currently I work as a Community Engagement and Communications Consultant for Climate SMILE (Strategy, Monitoring, Impact, Learning, and Evaluation) community of practice. I hold a master’s degree in global development from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, where I specialised in environmental peacebuilding. My research focused on legal frameworks that protect the environment during conflict, exploring legal personhood as an ecocentric approach to conservation. Fluent in English and French, I am committed to fostering a world where people and nature coexist in harmony through nature-based solutions. After living in Geneva, Switzerland for the last five years I recently moved back to my home city – Ottawa, Canada. In my free time I enjoy hiking, doing yoga, reading, and cooking.
