About Anna Rune

I am a pragmatic PhD/pharmacist passionate about pharmaceutical biotechnology and the chemistry of the body. Following the completion of my university studies in pharmacy at Uppsala University, I gained further experience in pharmaceutical research at Biovitrum. I then assumed the position of head pharmacist at a pharmacy in Stockholm, where I organised and directed daily responsibilities and developed the customer meeting. I enjoyed my employment at the pharmacy, but appreciated the challenges of pharmaceutical research and discovery. In order to pursue my strong interest at the basic science level, I acquired a position at Göteborg University. This experience ultimately inspired me to attain my doctoral degree in the Integrative Physiology group at Karolinska Institutet, a research laboratory internationally recognized for leading-edge research on type 2 diabetes and metabolic diseases. During my tenure as a doctoral student, my personal qualities of organization, time management, and self-motivation were essential for my success as a scientist. My research involved individual as well as group projects, through which I truly attained a comprehensive education and experience in basic science. Moreover, my experience in an international research environment also broadened my appreciation of cultural differences and the importance of strong networking and collaboration. Besides an international science network, I also gained a lot of close friends all over the world. Being back from maternity leave, I am now ready to take on new challenges. Given my substantial scientific background, strong commitment and drive to succeed, I am convinced I can contribute to the goals of your company within many facets.
