About Anna Salek

I am the Private Client Team Leader at Shearman & Sterling. The general focus of my practice is assisting clients with preserving and transferring wealth, in a manner that is both tax efficient and consistent with personal objectives. My experience extends to all aspects of estate, gift and income tax planning for both domestic and multinational clients. I have extensive experience preparing estate plans; administering substantial estates and trusts, from probate proceedings to IRS audits; and advising clients on the tax and other aspects of charitable giving, such as the disposition of appreciated property and the formation and administration of public charities and private foundations. My clients include family offices, closely held business owners, business executives, trust beneficiaries, executors, trustees and private equity fund principals. My advice is often sought by fund principals who are in the initial stages of forming a fund and business owners who are selling, or taking public, their closely held business. I work closely with my clients’ family offices, accountants, insurance brokers and their investment and other advisers to identify potential issues, simplify structures and find creative solutions to complex issues. I am very involved with the firm’s Family Office Initiative, which takes a multidisciplinary approach to providing single and multi-family offices across the globe with the unique legal advice that they require.
