About Anna Schultes

Anna Kuroczycka Schultes holds a Ph.D. in English-Modern Studies and a Women's Studies certificate from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Anna's research focuses on migrant female domestic workers, immigration, mothering and care work. Her publications have appeared in The Journal of Research on Women and Gender (2010), An Anthropology of Mothering (Demeter Press 2011), and in Anti-Immigration in the United States: A Historical Encyclopedia (2011). Anna's interest in migration has been fueled by feminist research theories. Over the past several years she has been conducting research on Polish mothers in the Chicagoland area. Her 2014 publication, On the Margins of Religion/On the Forefront of Culture: The Image of the Matka Polka (Polish Mother) in Contemporary Poland, traces the influence of religion and culture on Polish women's mothering choices. She holds a Master of Arts Degree from Warsaw University, Poland, and a Master of Science in Instruction from Northeastern Illinois University. Dr. Schultes has worked as an immigrant education consultant, coordinating professional development for staff in secondary education settings on how to meet the needs of English Language Learners and their families. She is currently the Instructional Supervisor of the English Department at Glenbrook North High School.
