About Anna Scott

I am a Senior Lecturer and Course Coordinator for the Bachelor and Masters of Marine Science and Management at Southern Cross University, where I teach two undergraduate units (Marine Science and Management, and Reefs) at the National Marine Science Centre. The central theme of my 20+ year career in marine science has been providing essential information on the life-history traits and anthropogenic impacts on habitat-forming species in the Indo-Pacific, with an emphasis on sea anemones that host anemonefishes. I have presented at national and international conferences, given numerous talks to community groups, appeared in various television programs such as The Today Show, Saturday Disney, Totally Wild, and the award-winning ABC documentary series Australia's Ocean Odyssey: A Journey Down The East Australian Current, and have an active social media presence (@scott_lab).I have held office bearer positions (including elected President) for over 15 years in the Australian Coral Reef Society, which is the world's oldest organization concerned with the study and conservation of coral reefs. Before working full-time at Southern Cross University, I completed contract work for Local Council, the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, Carleton College and Global Education Designs.
