For the Subject Rights / Privacy project at REI, leveraged my expertise and knowledge of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, designing flexible code to handle the oddities of data sourced from a variety of systems from across the enterprise. I knew the nooks and crannies of the Data Warehouse allowing detection of sensitive data, the erasure of which was mandated by the Privacy regulations around the world. I developed a flexible process that allowed for the variety of conventions that might be used by the Business Intelligence engineers for certified tables, but also by personnel across business areas for their customized data structures. I enjoy engineering solutions from inception to mature offering. Coming in at a nascent stage and designing a solution that comes together and holds up over iterations and stages is satisfying. I enjoy socializing and providing training and information about the project as it matures.I enjoy learning and exchanging information. I enjoy doing research and discovering new ideas and ways of doing things. I have embraced “the new” over the course of my career from SNOBOL coding to an in-house-written assembler operating system to a standalone z80 (8-bit register) assembler banking system and to system programming, database programming, ETL tools, new languages, new platforms, and much more.
